PETMOKI photo guide

A Better Photo Makes a Better Portrait

You do not need a professional camera. A clear, well-lit photo that shows your pet's face, eyes and unique markings gives our designer the strongest reference.

Good Photos vs. Photos to Avoid

Use these examples as a quick check before uploading your pet's photo.

✓ GOOD PHOTO Clear front-facing dog photo in bright light
Clear face, visible features and good lighting.
✓ GOOD PHOTO Sharp cat photo looking toward the camera
Eyes, ears and markings are easy to see.
× AVOID THIS Dog photographed too far away for a clear portrait reference
Too far away or the face is not clearly visible.
01

Show the Whole Face

Keep the eyes, nose, ears and outline of the head visible.

02

Use Even Light

Natural daylight helps reveal fur color and markings without harsh shadows.

03

Upload the Original

Choose the sharpest original file available instead of a compressed screenshot.

A quick upload checklist

What Works Best

Choose This

  • Your pet is close enough to see facial details.
  • The photo is sharp and in focus.
  • Eyes, ears and important markings are visible.
  • The lighting looks natural and even.
  • The pet stands out clearly from the background.
  • The expression feels true to your pet.

Avoid This

  • The pet is very small or far from the camera.
  • The photo has motion blur or heavy compression.
  • Ears, eyes or part of the face are cropped out.
  • Strong shadows hide facial details.
  • Filters, stickers or text cover the pet.
  • The face is turned too far away to identify key features.

Tip for dark- or light-colored pets: choose a background with enough contrast so the outline of the face, ears and fur does not disappear.

Upload the right number of pets

Single-Pet and Two-Pet Orders

Single-Pet Portrait

Upload one clear main photo of the pet you want featured.

If the product form offers an extra reference field, you may add another photo to show markings, coloring or a different angle.

Two-Pet Portrait

Upload one clear photo for Pet 1 and one clear photo for Pet 2.

The pets do not need to appear in the same original photo. Separate photos often give the designer a clearer view of each face.

What happens after upload

Your Photo Starts the Design Process

Your uploaded image is the reference for the artwork proof. It does not create an instant finished preview.

Upload

Add the required pet photo or photos and complete your order.

Photo Check

We review whether the submitted photo gives the designer enough visible detail.

Artwork Proof

A real designer prepares the portrait artwork and sends it for your review.

Approval & Crafting

Production begins only after you approve the final artwork proof.

Helpful answers

Photo Guide FAQs

Do I need a professional photo?
No. A clear phone photo can work well when the face is close, sharp and evenly lit.
Can I upload a screenshot or a social media photo?
The original photo file is recommended because screenshots and downloaded social media images may lose detail. If an original is unavailable, choose the clearest and largest version you have.
Can I submit extra reference photos?
Where the product form provides an additional reference-photo field, you may use it to show markings, coloring or another useful angle. Your clearest image should still be uploaded as the main photo.
Can the two pets be in separate photos?
Yes. For a two-pet order, upload one clear photo for each pet. They do not need to be together in the same image.
What if my pet has passed away and I only have older photos?
Choose the clearest photo that best shows your pet's face and expression. If you are unsure which image to use, contact us at support@petmoki.com before ordering.
What happens if my photo is not suitable?
If the photo does not provide enough visible detail, our team may contact you and request another reference before the design or production process continues.
